IDOP2019 - Empower and Promote Inclusion of All

Community for Successful Ageing (ComSA) Whampoa Centre has been celebrating International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) in Whampoa since 2015 with the senior participants and residents.

On 18 October 2019, the team held an IDOP Party to promote empowerment and inclusion for all. The theme was derived from the 2019 theme of United Nations International Day of Older Persons - “The Journey to Age Equality”, which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals that development will only be achievable if it is inclusive of all ages. It states the importance of empowering older persons in all aspects of development, including promoting their active participation in the social, economic and political lives, to ensure their inclusiveness and reduce inequalities.

The proposed theme was also reflective of Tsao Foundation’s value of promoting an inclusive society of all ages, it also associates with the long-term goal of ComSA in optimising opportunities in longevity and improving the quality of life of older persons in the interconnected areas of health, personal empowerment, social participation and wellbeing.

More than 250 participants came by to join in the party of stage performances and booth games and activities.
