Congratulations to the inaugural batch of graduates from the first Specialist Diploma in Gerontological Counselling to be offered in Singapore. A total of 10 graduates received their certificates at a simple ceremony on 26 October 2017.
The course was inspired by the critical need for more and better skilled counsellors to work with the increasing number of older persons in Singapore. It was developed with the guidance of the distinguished Prof Bob Knight, University of Southern Queensland, and offered by Hua Mei Training Academy, in collaboration with Hua Mei Counselling and Coaching, both outfits of the Tsao Foundation.
Held together with the graduation ceremony was the forum, “Behavioural health in Singapore’s age care system” with Ms Chua Gek Choo, Director of Nursing, Yishun Community Hospital; Mr Gilbert Fan, Master Medical Social Worker, National Cancer Centre; Ms Lee Lay Beng, Principal Medical Social Worker; and Tsao Foundation’s Chief, Clinical Affairs, Dr. Ng Wai Chong.
