Preparing For Longevity in Singapore is a report commissioned by Prudential Singapore. We provided insights in the report on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of Singapore as the population lives longer.
“What needs changing really is the way society looks at ageing and the older people across the whole lifespan.” said our CEO, Ms Peh Kim Choo in the report. “Active ageing should also be for older people who are disabled and frail,” she added.
We turned the spotlight on Wendy Khon, our Relationship and Programme Executive based at the Community for Successful Ageing (ComSA). She shared her formula as an active ager live on Channel News Asia’s First Look Asia news segment on 29 November morning.
“I want to live as long as I can, be independent and do the things I care and enjoy most,” she said. Wendy is 72 this year and she is not slowing down. “I have been working for the Foundation for 20 years. I started as an Assistant Care Manager and now I run a café cum activity centre for the elderly at ComSA.
To provide the full café coffee experience for the elders who come to the centre, Wendy completed a barista course in June this year and most recently, a course in Latte Art.
