The objective of the course is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to recognise the role of a family caregiver and how the changing trends of family dynamics and living arrangements can affect the quality of life of the caregiver and care recipient. Learners also learn appropriate communication skills and the use of a holistic approach to identify potential resources and match the identified gaps to enable the caregiver to better support the care recipient.

Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible CCOs.

  • Learn to identify the family caregivers and understand the role of a family caregiver.
  • Recognise the current trend on caregiving and its impact on care or caregiving for the older persons.
  • Learn to assess the caregiver using a holistic guide.
  • Determine the potential resources to match the identified gaps in the assessment.
  • Recognise the 4 main styles of communication and to understand how each style works.
  • Understand the importance of negotiating in communication.
