This course equips Active Ageing Centre staff, especially those managing or training volunteers, with the skills to lead in-house Community Befriending of Seniors (CBS) training. It refreshes core CBS concepts and builds facilitation skills to strengthen volunteer-led befriending services.
COURSE FEE: – $1460.00 (Excl. GST)
Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singaporeans/PRs and 45% for foreign staff working in eligible CCOs.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
- Refresh and deepen their understanding of key concepts from the Community Befriending of Seniors (CBS) course.
- Acquire the knowledge and skills to conduct and facilitate in-house CBS training programmes for their Befriending Volunteers.
- Collaborate with volunteers to develop effective, structured, and sustainable befriending services for older people.
TRAINING METHODOLOGY
Lecture, Class/Group discussion; Experiential Learning, Role Plays, Case Studies, Videos Screening, Skills Demonstration and Return-demonstration by Participants
COURSE OUTLINE (1 day training and 2 days assignment)
- Understand fully the course content and delivery intent of the CBS Courseware
- Acquire training and facilitation skills to conduct the CBS Course appropriately and effectively to train their Befriending Volunteers in befriending skills and knowledge
- Develop their own in-house mentoring system to build, nurture and equip their Befriending Volunteers in befriending services
PRE-REQUISITE
- Completed Community Befriending of Senior (CBS) Course, including e-learning on Mental Health and Essential Foundation in Volunteer Management (VM) Course by Hua Mei Training Academy, Tsao Foundation
- Possess at least 1 year of experience providing befriending services to older people and working in the community setting with older people
- Preferably have good facilitating skills track records and experiences in training/managing volunteers
