This course equips you with essential skills to provide compassionate, person-centred care for persons living with dementia. You will gain confidence in managing behavioural changes, meeting daily care needs, and communicating meaningfully. The course also emphasises self-care strategies to help you sustain your role and deliver dignified, effective care.

This course is ideal for you if you are:

  • Family caregivers and informal caregivers supporting persons living with dementia
  • Healthcare and eldercare professionals working with older adults (e.g. nurses, allied health professionals, social workers, care staff)
  • Community care practitioners, volunteers, and students/trainees in eldercare or social service settings

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the key types of dementia and apply person-centred and palliative care principles to support quality of life
  • Recognise behavioural changes and communicate effectively with persons living with dementia
  • Meet Activities of Daily Living (ADL) needs and facilitate appropriate therapeutic engagement
  • Apply self-care strategies and support caregivers to sustain well-being throughout the care journey
